There are a series of individual events that include the kayak and paddle board race on Saturday, June 3, and a 5k Beach Run/ 1k Fun Run this Saturday, May 27. That’s the start of the Memorial Day weekend.
Run the East, a professional race timing service, will be handling the official timing once again.
So what will this cost you? The 5k event fee of $25 gives you the right to an official time plus a t-shirt. The 1k fee is only $15 but the t-shirt costs an extra $10. For a measly $20, you can get a genuine Kayak for the Warriors license plate at the front desk in Town Hall (100 Municipal Cir in Pine Knoll Shores).
The 5k course begins on the beach, goes west toward Indian Beach, loops over the dunes, crosses dear old Salter Path Road (the Catnap’s address is 497 Salter Path Road in case you forgot), over the Beacon’s Reach knolls, back across Salter Path Road, and back onto the beach.
The 1k just goes down the beach toward Indian Beach 500 meters and comes back on the same route.
Visitors can park at the common beach access parking lot, the Beacon’s Reach Management Association parking lot, and behind the Beacon’s Reach Management office in the landscape field all of which are across Salter Path Road from the Inn at Pine Knoll Shores (What is this, you ask? Well, the Clam Digger seems to have been re-branded!).
There will be two porta potties at the Inn next to the common beach access.
