The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) is sponsoring a Fly-In at Beaufort tomorrow (May 21). They make note that the Crystal Coast is one wonderful place in describing why folks should fly to Michael J Smith Field Airport (KMRH). That’s KMRH just off the wingtip.


Among the great “stuff” mentioned by AOPA, one will find:

  1. Cape Lookout National Seashore;
  2. Really good surf fishing including the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament in June; and
  3. Pirate lore including “Blackbeard’s pirate ship was found right there [in Beaufort] and a museum showcases a lot of the area’s early history.

Amazingly, AOPA failed to mention the Flying Catnap by the Sea! Go figure! Well, they missed a lot of other stuff, too … the Aquarium, the Country Club of the Crystal Coast, the …
